New Beginnings

So, someone not too long ago said I should start a blog. I was apprehensive at first and suddenly today felt inspired to create one. So here we are.

I'm creating this mainly to follow interests of mine such as Let's Playing and video games. It might expand to other things given time, but at the moment those seem like the best places to start.

I started doing Let's Plays back in June of 2009, so it's been about a year and a half as of this very moment that I've been doing them. I started out with one of my favorite games, Thief: Deadly Shadows, as the first one I ever did. The Thief series has always been near and dear to me even though it was dumbed down with the third installment coming from a different company than the one that created the first two games. Really, Thief: Deadly Shadows changes the game quite dramatically compared to the previous titles including using a dagger rather than a sword as the main weapon. Honestly, that seems more thief-like anyway, but it took a bit of getting used to when I first played it back in 2004 when it first came out.

From Thief: Deadly Shadows, I've branched out into quite a few other different Let's Plays with various gameplay styles even though I prefer sneaking around the most. The latest trio of games I've been working on have been Dead Rising 2, James Bond 007: Blood Stone (which should have gotten better reviews!), and Minecraft. Minecraft is definitely a deviation from my normal flavor of gaming especially due to no objectives and strange graphics. I have fun with it, and I suppose we'll see where that goes as time progresses. Quite a few people seem interested in it so I'll keep working on it for the moment.

Eventually, after expanding out to various Let's Plays, I stumbled across a website called GameAnyone.com via one of the Let's Players I enjoyed watching. At first I was a bit wary of the site as I had no idea what it was all about. After a few weeks of seeing the Let's Player constantly mentioning GameAnyone.com in his videos, I took my chances and headed over to the site. I found the site to be a place where you were allowed to submit walkthroughs, playthroughs, Let's Plays, and anything else that people call them as long as the game was started from the beginning and was followed through to completion (100% unnecessary). The site was brilliant, and I immediately found myself wanting to get involved after I found out what was going on joining the site on February 6th, 2010. Once I realized anyone could easily get involved by going through their easy walkthrough adder system via a YouTube Playlist URL, I was hooked. At some point, I decided I wanted to become even more involved and started to audiomark my videos by talking about GameAnyone.com in the first 10 or so seconds. After that it was just a hop, skip, and a jump away from figuring out how to watermark my videos and things went from there. Apparently the higher ranking members noticed what I was doing on the site and requested I apply to become what is called a Director on the site - a featured contributor who gains perks from the site and is more involved with the site. I've been a Director ever since and have recently been given the opportunity to work my way up into the ranks of the Moderators from being a Director. Basically the same thing as a Director, just with more responsibility.

So, that's my basic story behind becoming a Let's Player. I think it makes a good first blog post to start this thing off. Still, I've never done any blogging before which means I have no idea what the whole thing is about unless you count one of those journal sites, which I didn't do for very long.

In any case, signing off for now. Till next time.
